COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH INSURANCE INITIATIVE (CHII)
Through its Comprehensive Health Insurance Initiative (CHII), HDAP covers the expenses of health insurance for clients enrolled in the program. The CHII program helps eligible individuals who lack health insurance purchase insurance coverage which offers full prescription drug coverage. CHII also covers insurance premium payments for those clients who already have health insurance but can no longer afford to pay for it. CHII will pay each insurance plan’s required monthly premiums and/or prescription co-payments for approved drugs.
The CHII program helps ensure that people with HIV have access to the best drugs and treatments available, and has been received enthusiastically by HDAP clients and providers alike.
Specifically, CHII can assist with the costs of: - Non-group health insurance
- Small group health insurance
- Self-employed health insurance
- MassHealth or Commonwealth Care premiums
- Medicare Part D premiums
- COBRA
- Employee premium deduction
CHII cannot cover the costs of doctor visits, medical (non-prescription) co-payments, or deductibles. To enroll in the CHII program, you are required to apply to HDAP. Please complete an HDAP application, and be sure to fill out CHII section of the form. For more information on the Comprehensive Health Insurance Initiative (CHII) program or other insurance issues,
