HIV Drug Resistance assay reimbursement

The HDAP HIV Drug Resistance Assay Reimbursement program provides direct reimbursement to healthcare sites for the cost of genotype and virtual phenotype testing that cannot be reimbursed through MassHealth/Medicaid, private insurance, or other means. Drug resistance testing is an important tool to measure whether a person's virus is resistant to antiviral medications. With the help of genotype and phenotype testing, physicians can make an informed and individualized decision as to what antiretroviral therapies can be most effective for each of their patients.

To enroll in the HIV Drug Resistance Assay Reimbursement program, interested healthcare sites can contact HDAP staff. We will make arrangements with a laboratory service for reimbursement for viral resistance tests.
